Report From Milan - Trends from Euroluce 2011

Eco-Energy

In what has become our biennial tradition (and one of our design clients’ favorites!) the Lusive Team is sending, in 3 parts, our report on lighting and design trends from the Euroluce Lighting Fair, Tortona Design Week and I Saloni Milano 2011. As always there was plenty to talk about! It is our pleasure to pass on the hot trends, our ‘most wanted’ and just plain cool designs from the show.

As eco-everything joins with mainstream design, we saw LEDs being used as not just light bulbs, but as interactive sculptura elements. Sculptures that truly fuse lighting with form in ways that could not exist prior to these technologies…

As expected, we saw many companies continue to explore new lamping options.

PHILIPS once again the giant of contract showed an amazing array of product – their (literal) “small village” of display pods spanned the utilitarian to the decorative, from comparative lamping studies to the mesmerizing Mandala Petsetaki LED fixtures.

FLOS continued to partner with renowned designers to work the cutting edge – Marcel Wanders, Joris Laarman and the everlasting Philippe Starck have created new product in line with the latest technologies.and ideas as we all move to-ward energy-conscious choices.

The eye-catching ‘Wallpiercing’ by Ron Gilad uses color-changing LEDs to create infinite visual options. Check out the video on our Facebook page!
