Oakland-based artist Gabriel Schama creates Mandala-like layered paper and laser cut wood sculptures amazingly elaborated in details and swirls. Schama’s craftmanship astonishes with perfectionism in his 3D sculptures that cause a sense of satisfaction in viewers. He starts by creating a vector illustration that is integrated within his laser cutter, then glue and finishes them by hand. He uses laser cut wood in monochromatic pieces and hand-cut layered paper, in the colorful ones. In his future projects, Schama will experiment with other materials like plywood and acrylic.
