Eletroshock furniture by Massimilano Adami

An Italian designer Massimilano Adami, whose work is based on experimenting with production techniques, employs electroshock method in his latest project. The idea was born from his desire to come by a simple way of blending polyethylene powder into different objects. Adani uses thermoplastic powder and heat to create a unique furniture without using industrial molding.  The process starts by creating scale models with cores of thin metal wire which he then immerses in thermoplastic powder and granules or liquid. When the wire is dipped in liquid, he electrifies it which heats the wire, causing polymer medium to aggregate. By using the electtroshock process, Adami creates serial, yet one-off furniture pieces.
